한국교회의 목회형태는 시대에 따라 변천되어 왔다. 한국의 초대교회는 사경회 중심의 독특한 목회모델이 정착되었고. 1960년대에는 은사중심의 목회모델, 1970년대 이후는 교회성장중심의 목회모델이 주류를 이루었고, 그 이후에는 제자훈련중심의 목회모델, 가정사역중심의 목회모델, 선교사역중심의 목회모델 등의 다양한 모델들이 활용되어 왔다. 이러한 모델들의 장점과 한계성을 체험한 한국교회는 그 종합적 대안으로 상담목회를 시도해야 한다. 그 이유는 한국교회가 삶의 현장에서 여러 가지 문제들로 인하여 고민하고 방황하는 성도들을 위하여 바른 목양의 방안을 제시해야 하기 때문이다. 상담목회는 교육목회와 함께 말씀을 선포하고 가르치며 치유하는 선포와 교육과 치유라는 예수님의 삼중사역을 집약한 총체적 치유사역의 한 분야로 조명되어야 하며, 여기에 대한 연구가 있어야 한다. 그러므로 본고에서는 상담목회의 필요성과 가능성, 역사적 모델, 현실적 방안 등을 탐구하였다.
The ministry style of the Korean church has transformed over time, since the early days of church fathers at the turn of the twentieth century through the tumultuous historical periods of twentieth century, reflecting the changing historical and social norms. Such ministry styles included revival-centered models, church growth centered models, disciple training models, family ministry models, and foreign missions models. Despite many successes, all of the above ministry models have shown limitations. This article suggests the counseling ministry as an alternative ministry model for the Korean church. It first explores the theoretical principles of counseling, and the possibilities it poses for the Korean church. Why is Biblical counseling needed in the Korean church? By examining the historical models of biblical counseling ministry, this article offers practical suggestions for counseling ministry, from training to practicing. Biblical counseling ministry is a key to minister to the Christians and non-Christians alike.
