하나님을 의지하고 그 은혜에 굳게 서려고 할 때 항상 기억해야 하는 것은 하나님이 하신 일입니다. 하나님이 실제로 하신 일을 기억하지 못하면 하나님에 대한 자신의 생각으로만 채워지게 됩니다. 그러면 하나님에 대한 잘못된 생각을 하게 되어 있습니다. 그 생각의 근원은 인간이라면 어떻게 했을까에 근거하기 때문입니다.
이제 하나님이 하신 일 자체를 보려고 한다면 오늘 말씀에 나오는 부분을 주목해 보아야 합니다.
“-[롬]8:32 자기 아들을 아끼지 아니하시고 우리 모든 사람을 위하여 내주신 이가 어찌 그 아들과 함께 모든 것을 우리에게 주시지 아니하겠느냐”
하나님께서는 자기 아들을 아끼지 아니하시고 우리 모든 사람을 위하여 죄의 대속물로 내어 주셨습니다. 그러니 그 아들과 함께 모든 것을 우리에게 주시지 않겠습니까? 이러한 하나님의 은혜의 확장은 구원을 위해서 내어 주신 것입니다. 그래서 아들과 함께 모든 것을 내어 주실 때에도 그것은 우리의 구원을 위해서 내어 주신다는 것입니다. 다시 말해서 모든 것을 우리의 욕심을 위해서 내어 주시는 것이 아니라 우리의 구원을 위해서 내어 주십니다. 그래서 우리는 하나님의 이렇게 행하시는 일을 이해하고 기억하며 감사해야 합니다. 그럴 때 하나님을 온전히 신뢰할 수 있습니다.
창세기 22장에서 아브라함은 이삭을 바치라는 하나님의 명령에 대해서 순종하였습니다. 그래서 정말 이삭을 죽이고 그를 잡아서 하나님께 드리려고 했습니다. 인신제사를 드리려고 했던 것입니다. 그럴 때 하나님에 대한 그의 생각은 하나님께서 이삭을 다시 살리시리라는 것이었습니다. 그것이 히브리서 11장19절에 나옵니다.
“[히]11:19 그가 하나님이 능히 이삭을 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살리실 줄로 생각한지라 비유컨대 그를 죽은 자 가운데서 도로 받은 것이니라”
아브라함은 하나님께서 이삭을 살리기 위해서 모든 것을 다 하시리라고 생각했습니다. 그것이 성경의 증언이고 그 증언을 통해서 우리는 아브라함이 이삭을 죽이지 않을 수 있었던 것은 죽은 자 가운데서 도로 받은 것이었음을 알게 됩니다. 그래서 하나님께서 모든 것을 우리에게 주신다는 이 말씀의 의미는 그 앞서 나오는 구절을 통해서 더욱 분명해집니다.

하나님은 그냥 구원하시는 것이 아니라 미리 정하신 자들을 부르시고 의롭다 하시고 영화롭게 하셨습니다. 그들을 위해 아들 예수님을 예비하셨고 그 예수님의 피로 구원하시고 의롭게 하셨던 것입니다. 그러니 하나님께서 우리를 이렇게 사랑하시고 위하시는데 누가 우리를 대적할 수 있겠습니까?
이제 우리가 받은 구원의 귀함을 생각하고 그 구원을 감사하면서 하나님께서 지금도 우리의 구원을 이루기 위해서 애쓰시는 것을 잊지 말아야 하겠습니다. 그것이 바로 우리를 위해 아들을 주신 이가 아들과 함께 모든 것을 주신다는 말씀의 의미입니다. 주님은 할 수 있는 모든 것을 다 공급해 주시는 것입니다.
오늘도 이러한 은혜를 간직하고 하나님의 은혜로 충만하게 되는 성도가 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.
기도: 아들과 함께 모든 것을 주신 하나님을 더욱 의지하게 하옵소서.

[Rom] 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
-[Rom] 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, how shall He not also with Him graciously give us all things?
When we rely on God and stand firm in His grace, we must always remember what God has done. If we do not remember what God has actually done, we will be filled only with our own thoughts about God. Then, we end up having wrong thoughts about God. The reason for this is because the root of this thought is based on what a human would do.
Now, if we want to see what God has done, we should pay attention to the part that is mentioned in today’s passage.
“-[Rom.] 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”
God did not spare his own Son but gave him up as a ransom for all of us. So, wouldn’t he also give us all things with him? This expansion of God’s grace is that he gave him up for our salvation. So, when he gave him up for our salvation, he did so for our salvation. In other words, he did not give him up for our greed, but for our salvation. Therefore, we must understand, remember, and be thankful for what God does in this way. Then we can completely trust God.
In Genesis 22, Abraham obeyed God’s command to sacrifice Isaac. So he really wanted to kill Isaac and offer him up to God. He wanted to offer a human sacrifice. At that time, his thought about God was that God would raise Isaac up again. This is written in Hebrews 11:19.
“[Hebrews 11:19] He considered that God was able to raise him up from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he received him back.”
Abraham thought that God would do everything to raise Isaac up. That is the testimony of the Bible, and through that testimony, we learn that the reason Abraham could not kill Isaac was because he received him back from the dead. Therefore, the meaning of this statement that God gives us everything becomes clearer through the preceding verse.
“[Rom.] 8:30 And those whom he predestined, he also called; those whom he called, he also justified; those whom he justified, he also glorified.
[Rom.] 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
God did not simply save, but called, justified, and glorified those whom he predestined. He prepared his son Jesus for them, and he saved and justified them with the blood of Jesus. So, who can be against us when God loves and is for us so much?
Now, as we think about the preciousness of the salvation we have received and are thankful for that salvation, we must not forget that God is still striving to accomplish our salvation. That is the meaning of the words that He who gave His Son for us gave everything with Him. The Lord provides everything He can.
