이 연구의 목적은 오늘날 증가하고 있는 정신장애에 대한 교회 상담의 모델로 성경적 세계관에 기초한 성경적 상담학을 소개하는 것이다. 연구의 방법은 정신장애에 대한 사람들의 이해와 해석을 역사적으로 고찰하고, 정신장애에 대한 현대상담문화와 정신의학의 대처 방안과 오류, 이들에 대한 반정신의자들의 비판을 소개한다. 이 과정을 통해 교회 상담은 교회의 본질, 성경의 원리와 일치하는 상담이어야 함을 재진한다. 이런 맥락에서 정신장애를 인간의 고통의 문제로 접근할 것과 현대 정신의학과 상담이 효력을 발휘하지 못하는 속사람과 영적인 변화를 위한 마음 변화의 중요성을 주장한다. 이 연구는 교회 상담의 실천은 변함없는 진리에 근거하여 인간의 실존적 상태를 그리스도께 맡기도록 돕는 과정임을 확인하고, 이 일을 위해 교회 상담가는 상담과 관련된 삶의 문제를 성경적으로 해석하고 성경의 자원들을 잘 활용하도록 촉구한다. 그렇게 할 때, 교회 상담은 교회의 정체성과 부합된 복음이 분명하게 드러나는 활동이 된다고 주장한다.

The purpose of this research is to introduce biblical counseling based on biblical aspect which is a model of church counseling toward highly increased mental disorder today. The research method is historically based on understanding of mental disorders and interpretation. Secondly, this article introduces the coping method and error that the modern-counseling culture and Psychiatry use and criticism from antipsychiatry toward them. Through this process, the modern Biblical counseling states a question if this matches to essence of church. Therefore, this research states that see mental disorder as a problem of human suffering, and biblical counseling should be used as a tool of ministry to change those who need more than psychiatry counseling and those who need spiritual change. The goal of the study is to convey the idea that biblical counseling is a treatment of spirit than psychological stability or physical treatment through spectrum of mental disorder, and demand awareness of love and promise of Christ through approach to mental disorders using biblical approach.
