용서에 대한 심리학적 연구에 의하면 참된 용서는 성급한 용서가 아니라 피해자가 그 피해를 더욱 정확히 직면하고, 자신이 받은 상처로 인한 분노와 같은 부정 감정을 한동안 정직하게 수용해야만 가능하다. 그러나 기독교 상담에서 예수님으로 인한 용서를 적용한다는 명목으로 내담자의 피해와 그로 인한 분노를 충분히 다루지 않고, 내담자를 말씀으로 압박하여 용서를 성급하게 하도록 재촉하는 경향이 있다. 이에 반하여 구약의 저주시는 기독교인 피해자가 신적용서를 닮은 사랑의 용서로 나아가기 전에 하나님의 정의에 근거하여 자신의 분노의 감정을 있는 그대로 직면 및 수용해야 할 충분한 시간을 가져야 한다는 것을 증거 한다. 본 논문은 저주시의 피해자를 구속사를 통해 발전된 용서에 대한 성경 계시와 직접 연결하여 구속사적 관점으로 보기를 제안한다. 구속사적 관점으로부터 신약의 빛 아래에서 구약의 저주시를 본다면, 저주시의 존재는 피해자의 분노가 참된 용서로 나아가기 위한 필수적인 토대가 되는 준비 단계라는 사실을 보여준다. 구속사적 관점에서 보면, 신약에서 강조되는 인간 용서에 대한 가르침(마 18:22, 35; 골 3:13; 엡 4:32)은 구약의 오랜 가르침인 하나님의 정의를 토대로 그 위에 완성되기 때문에, 정경의 수혜자인 기독교인들 또한 정의로부터 용서로 이동하는 정경의 변화와 동일한 순서를 따라야 함을 함축한다. 즉 기독교인에게 요구되는 원수를 용서하는 사랑은 그 원수의 죄에 대하여 신원하시는 하나님의 정의에 대한 날카로운 인식의 토대로부터 나와야 한다는 뜻이다. 그리하여 정의에 근거한 피해자의 분노가 크면 클수록 그 피해자는 같은 크기의 큰 용서를 원수에게 선물할 수 있게 된다. 반대로 받은 피해에 대한 피해자의 인식이 작을수록, 그의 용서는 작은 용서가 될 것이다. 그러므로 구속사적 관점에서의 저주시의 존재는 하나님의 정의에 근거한 내담자의 분노가 참된 용서로 나아가기 위한 필수적 단계라는 사실을 함축하고 있다.

Empirical studies of forgiveness have shown that true forgiveness is possible only when the victim faces and accepts the offence and negative emotions resulting from others’ sins honestly for a while. However, Christian care-givers tend to urge clients to rush to forgive the offender and attempt to alter the victims’ view and emotions of the damage fast to make the victims feel better. Christian counselors may show messages to Christian client that anger as a negative emotion is not proper to a life of faith. On the contrary, the imprecatory psalms in the Old Testament prove that Christian victims must have enough time to confront and accept their unforgiving feelings such as anger based on God’s justice, before proceeding to the forgiveness of love reflecting Godlike forgiveness in the Christ. The fact that imprecatory psalms are in the bible denote that God wants to hear His people's honest expression of negative feelings for the psychological healing. This paper proposes to look the victim in the imprecatory psalms from the redemptive historical view. Looked from the redemptive historical view, the existence of the imprecatory psalms shows that the victim’s anger is an essential preparatory stage for the process of true forgiveness.
